BUYER- CHEMICALS
A growing contract manufacturer of health and beauty industry in North Mississauga area has an exciting opportunity for a Chemical Buyer. This position requires a highly motivated and results oriented individual who is able to handle a fast paced environment and the complexity of chemicals in a HABA application.
Specific Responsibilities
- Source raw materials for national brands, private labels and specialty products, customer directed or market based.
- Negotiate favorable price, terms and lead times with key suppliers.
- Optimize inventory cost while maintaining an efficient, cost effective and continuous flow of raw materials to meet Customers demand.
- Communicate material/supplier issues to planning, production and project management and manage these issues to resolution.
- Ensure continuous communication with suppliers and resolved in a timely manner all supply related issues, such as invoice discrepancies, quality issues and materials replacement.
- Responsible for the connection between suppliers and customers to ensure a successful implementation of any new raw material. Work very close to Project Management and Quality Assurance.
- Create and maintain accurate bill of materials for the customers’ products, incorporating new materials and phasing out any obsoletes when required.
- Issue and expedite purchase orders and changed orders, based on a daily monitoring of Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) for production.
- Expedite open purchase orders to guarantee timely delivery of components for open work orders.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Three to five years experience in consumer packaged goods with specific knowledge of the raw materials used in Health & Beauty aids.
- Good interpersonal skills and credibility within the chemical industry
- Strong organizational and planning skills with a strong sense of urgency as well as the ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Proactive attitude with strong attention to detail
- Builds constructive and effective relationships
- Initiative to investigate problems, develop solutions and obtain results
- Ability to make recommendations for change and continuous improvement
- Enrollment or completion of the C.P.P. designation preferred
- Proficiency with MS Office preferably with MRP experience
